About the PMA

Supporting Professional and Managerial Staff at Western

The Professional and Managerial Association (PMA) is an organization of professionals and managers at Western University who share the University’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and service. We strive to be active, contributing, valued, and consulted partners in a university community that encourages innovation and shared decision-making.

PMA provides leadership, promotes excellence, and represents the interests of Professional and Managerial staff within the Western community.

What Is the Difference Between PMA and a Union?

The PMA is a professional association that represents and advocates for Professional and Managerial staff at Western University. Through consultation, relationship-building, and negotiation, PMA works to advance member interests and support positive workplace outcomes.

While unions and professional associations both advocate for employee interests, they operate under different legal and governance frameworks.

PMA works collaboratively with the University while representing the interests and priorities of Professional and Managerial staff.
